These blind spots are the counter-opposite to the Fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, longsuffering, goodness, faith, meekness, and self-control). Common blind spots that hinder spiritual growth, healing, and promotion include shame, guilt, fear, worry, anxiety, offense, transference, foolishness, pride, rebellion, arrogance, anger, control, temptation, lust, addiction, ministry (abuse of), and deception. Pastor Mark explains that blindspots originated when Satan thought that he could become like God. Instead, Satan fell from heaven. Satan is the great deceiver who wants to keep people blind to the truth of God's freedom, redemption, and healing so that they will continue to live destructively, fallen, blind, lives far from the Holy Spirit, and devoid of the Fruit of the Spirit described above. Because Christians are called to bear the fruit of the good works that God has prepared from them in advance, build others up, and love others as they love themselves, dangerous blindspots can only hinder progress and produce broken people that mysteriously cannot bear the fruit of the Christian life. These blindspots can "move-in" with people and take them over to the point that these Christians are not promoted, and they are not effective. The first step to freedom is seeing; the second step is giving it to Jesus. My prayer is that this book would bring the reader to these two steps and that freedom, the Fruit of the Spirit, and promotion in God to live the Christian life will be in the reader's future.
